In this workshop, you'll learn the basics of Tunisian Crochet, including how to start, the foundational stitches, and how to maintain even tension. You'll explore how this method produces a thicker, softer, and spongier fabric that resembles knitting but works up with the ease of crochet.

Perfect for crocheters of all levels, this workshop will introduce you to a new set of stitches and techniques to enhance your skillset and inspire new project ideas.

This workshop is targeted at advanced beginner level.

In this hands-on workshop we will cover:

· Tunisian Simple Stitch

· Tunisian Knit Stitch

· Tunisian Purl Stitch

· Tunisian Full Stitch

· Incorporating different kinds of colour changes

The focus will be on practising the stitch techniques. The initial projects that you can progress to from this workshop include coasters, washcloths, scarves or cowls and blankets. Ideas for these will be reviewed in the workshop.

Prerequisites:

It will be assumed that you are able to crochet a swatch of fabric in basic stitches – double crochet and treble crochet (UK terms) / single crochet and double crochet (US terms)

What to bring:

· Yarn of your choice – (we recommend two contrasting light colours in 8ply or 10ply)

· Tunisian Crochet Hook (6mm for 8ply or 6.5mm – 7mm for 10 ply)

· Scissors

· Stitch markers

· 2.5mm or 3.0mm standard crochet hook (optional)

To commence making coasters or washcloths Fiddlesticks Finch (10 ply) or Wren (8 ply) in 100% cotton is recommended.

Yarn and hooks can be purchased on the day of the workshop.
