Introduction to Spinning- Drop Spindle, Wheel and E-Spinner

Try an ancient craft of spinning using fleece and spin your first yarn. In this full day workshop your will gain hands-on experience of spinning using a drop spindle, wheel and e-spinner.

This workshop is suitable for anyone looking to start their journey in spinning. This in an introduction to explore the different options and techniques in creating your own yarn from fibre.

What will you learn?

  • Fibre preparation, blending colours using a blending board or a drum carder
  • Drafting the fibres
  • Spinning using the park and draft method on a drop spindle and short draw on a wheel
  • Plying of the fibre
  • Tips on how to finish your handspun fibre

Things to bring:

Participants will provided with all different options for spinning and fibre to have a play with throughout the workshop. 

All spun and plied fibre created by the participants is theirs to keep. 

A 10% workshop discount will be offered to class students on the day- this discount will not be applied to anything that is already reduced.
